No kidding, once you start browsing the hundreds of little stores in the narrow streets of Fira and Oia, you'll have the word 'wow' on repeat as you move from one amazing store to another.
The local arts and crafts are indeed very unique and famous far beyond the shores of Santorini.
Personally, we are always blown away by the original and high quality Santorini jewelry. And we are not the only ones...
Many are the royalties and celebrities who have taken their jewelry shopping frenzy to this little island.
The concentration of Santorini jewelry stores, especially in central Fira, is mind-boggling. There almost seems to be one jewelry store for every other type of store.
We also love to browse the many art galleries that display local artists.
'The best of the island'! When doing your Santorini shopping round, be prepared to hear this comment often from the ambitious salesmen you run in to on your shopping round.
Of course they can't all be the best, but don't see it as a cheap sales trick. Most of the time they're simply proud of their products and believe in what they do.
Bargaining is a common practice all around Greece and here as well.
It's simple, why pay more than you have to? Don't be embarassed and go ahead and make a lower offer than the tag price. The Greeks love to negotiate. Be a good guest and don't deny them that pleasure, while also saving a few Euros. It's a win-win situation!
